During a laser therapy session, a handheld device delivers light energy to targeted areas of the body. This energy is absorbed by cells, which stimulates circulation and cellular repair while reducing inflammation. Most dogs find the sensation pleasant, similar to a gentle, soothing warmth, and sessions are typically quick, quiet, and require no sedation.
Conditions We Treat with Laser Therapy in Dogs
Spay and neuter surgery is among the most common procedures we perform, removing the reproductive organs to protect against certain diseases and reduce territorial or roaming behaviors. Beyond routine spay/neuter, our surgical team performs soft tissue procedures including mass and tumor removal, laceration and wound repair following trauma, hernia repair, and bladder stone removal, a procedure that becomes necessary when dogs develop urinary stones that cannot pass naturally.
Because dogs range so widely in size, from small breeds to giant breeds, our anesthesia and surgical protocols are individualized to each patient's weight, age, and health status rather than following a single standard approach.
Before Your Dog's Surgery
Prior to any surgical procedure, we typically recommend pre-anesthetic bloodwork to confirm your dog is a good candidate for anesthesia and to identify any underlying conditions that might affect the surgical plan. We will walk you through fasting instructions, drop-off times, and what to expect on the day of surgery.
During and After Surgery
Throughout every procedure, your dog is monitored closely by a trained veterinary technician who tracks vital signs and helps manage pain. Many dogs are able to go home the same day as their surgery, while others, particularly after more involved procedures, may need to stay overnight for closer monitoring during initial recovery. Before your dog goes home, we review post-operative care instructions in detail, including activity restriction, incision care, and pain management, and we remain available if you have questions during the recovery period.
